In the pages that we have read this week we meet George and Lennie which have both been really good friends for a long time. George takes really good care of Lennie and watches after him. Whenever Lennie gets into trouble or does something wrong George is always there to get him out of it or help him. The thing is though is that George never lets Lennie have any fun. For instance Lennie had a mouse so he could just pet it, george took it from him and just threw it out in the woods.
George and Lennie are supposed to be at the ranch early in the morning so they can start their first day of work and help out in the morning. Their bad luck though made it so they couldn't work in the morning and they got there late. All because the bus dropped them off ten miles too early.
So when they get to the ranch late the owner there is really mad at them for not being there for work when they were supposed to. Another thing that George does to Lennie that im not so impressed with is that Lennie doesn't get to speak for himself, George always does it for him. So the ranch owner is very mad at them because they weren't there to work early in the morning and he starts off getting to know them and get them situated. Since Lennie can't talk at all George gets everything ready for him and they both fit in eventually.
Until they meet Curley who is just mean to both of them, (and they just got there i mean really give them a break). Curley is mean to George and he can stick up for himself, but Lennie can't because he may get into trouble.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, your blog is largely summary. To avoid summary, explain why a character behaves the way he does. Explain why George and Lennie had to relocate. Explain why George talks for Lennie, etc. Look for foreshadowing and symbols. Look under the surface and explore what is really going on here.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you guys. I don't think that Curley cares if they are new or not, he just wants to start something with everybody. In the end i do believe that Curley will finally get what he deserves for being such a big shot kind of guy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% there Corey.I also think that Curly is mean to them and that that they should get a break because they are new. I also agree with the fact that george is very protective over Lennie.
