At this point in the book I feel that the boys are even more without societyin their lives and are going more savage day by day. Jack is a prime example of this. He has shed all of his clothes now and is obsessed with killing and is treating people worse each day.
Jack so far in the book is my most hated character. The reason for this is becasue he does whatever he wants and doesn't put the others first on his proirites, but instead puts himself first. Jack doesn't realize what all he needs to survive, but instead thinks that they need a fire instead of housing or shelter. Everyone listens to him only because of the fact that he is more savage and threatening than the rest of the boys. Piggy trying to be the mother of the group and obviously the brightest of the group, tries to make things right and keep them civilized, but no one will listen to him. I would never listen to Jack just because of the fact that he thinks he's all that. Piggy tries to be friends with everyone he can, but Jack thinks he's all that and punches the daylights out of him and breaks a lens out of his glasses.
The quote, "By the time the pile was built, the boys were on different sides of a high barrier." This quote means that the boys had chosen already which sides they will take on the island and who they will listen to.
