Lord of the Flies, blog 1

When I read chapter one of The Lord of the Flies, I thought that it was interesting how the boys acted around each other with no parents around or way of direction. The boys got stranded on an island after their plane crashed. Now with no adults and no sense od direction by anyone, its up to them to control themselves.

The way that I see the book so far after the first chapter is that the kids on the island will get themselves together and survive as a team. The reason I say this is because I think that the boys are foreshadowing by the way that they have already decided who should be the leader of the group and by the way that they are working together already in groups to explore and get food. The are taking control and making a living on their own for however long they need to.

The part that I see wrong right from the start already is, that the boys are already picking on Piggy well the older boys are because of his weight. And none of the boys will ever stop probably becasue thay don't care and they make fun of and take advantage of Piggy. I feel that that will happen throughout the rest of the book too because of the fact that there is no control there to stop them. The other thing I fear is that the older boys will take advantage of the younger boys and won't do anything themselves or will make fun of them.

So many things could start to go wrong at any time of the story, and all of the leadership or direction that they have could go away faster than fast. If they pull it together they will succeed, but if they don't it could lead to death.

  1. I agree about the part that the other boys will not help the younger ones because they think they are better just because they are older. Also, I feel bad for Piggy since they made fun of him. I think they have done pretty well though so far with getting along and starting their mission.

  2. Hi Corey!
I agree with you, when you say that it is interestings how the boys interacted with eachother, and I do think it is too bad that they pick on Piggy!:S
I don't think that the boys will be able to survive that well unless they run into an adult even though they are doing a good job now.
    Good blog!!

  3. Hey Corey, I would like to say that i agree with you on how it seems like at any given point something could go wrong in this book. And with all the leaders in one group there are bound to be different opinions n everything, so there should be some fueds coming soon.

    Bye....

  4. I agree that the boys took a proper step in picking a leader, though i believe they chose the wrong leader. With Ralph's personality being impatient and bold,he will make the wrong choice that will hurt the group. Piggy would have done better.

  5. The boys did take a great strive forward because chosing a leader is a good step. When Ralph makes the decisions it makes me get the idea that things could go wrong in the furure.
